We can safely say that no one knows how to hustle like a parent. From being a chauffeur to a short-order cook, a teacher, a personal shopper, and a raiser of human beings, parents know how to get things done. Needless to say, being a mom or dad is an incredibly fulfilling journey and the ensuing duties are equally cherishable. However, with increased cost of living and inflation, many parents are planning to start a side hustle to maintain the same standard of living. Side hustles for moms or stay-at-home parents are different than most because you have limited hours every day for work.

Side Hustle for Parents: Simple Steps to Start the Journey

2023 is the age of the internet, and there are several ways to rekindle your spirits and hop onto the side hustle bandwagon. How? Let us find out!

1. Stay organized

Balancing parenthood and a side-hustle is no small feat. It’s like managing two full-time gigs. But don’t be discouraged. Even if parenting or your main job takes precedence, your side hustle can still thrive. The key is understanding your daily rhythm, setting clear boundaries, and organizing tasks efficiently.

2. Me Time is Important

While it’s common knowledge that 6 to 8 hours of sleep, a balanced diet, and regular exercise are the pillars of personal well-being, there’s an often overlooked aspect that’s equally crucial, especially for parents who are side-hustlers: engaging in soul-soothing activities.

For some, it could be curling up with a good book. For others, it might be gardening, painting, meditating, or even just taking a leisurely walk in nature. The essence is to find something that resonates with you personally, allows you to disconnect from daily stresses, and helps rejuvenate your mind and spirit.

3. Goals are Important

To stay motivated, begin by setting clear, achievable goals, providing a roadmap for your hustle. Celebrate small victories, acknowledging each step forward. Create a dedicated workspace to establish boundaries and signal “work mode” to your mind. You can also join online communities or local groups of like-minded parents, like this one! They can provide invaluable support, advice, and camaraderie. Sometimes, just knowing you’re not alone in your journey can be hugely motivating.

While it is a big task juggling the responsibilities of parenthood and the excitement of a side hustle, it is completely possible. I’ve done it since 2007 and the struggles are big but the success is sweeter.
Recently, I’ve started helping stay-at-home moms start a home-based side hustle through my 100-day Moving Box Rental Side Hustle Program. It is a sustainable side hustle that creates up to $2,000 in profits every month but just dedicating 10-15 hours every week. If you’d like to know more, set up a Clarity Call with me today!
